I’m running the NYC marathon (my first-ever race!) for Keep a Child Alive with @couragejd, @Cole_Cook and friends. Running has been an important part of my life for the last decade, but usually in solitude and rarely with stakes. I love how it can be meditative and personal. But I’ve also been thinking a lot about constraints and clear goals lately. The difference between “trying to run more” and training for a marathon are profoundly different. Again, it is about stakes: it is really rewarding to run with a broader goal (the race) and mission (raising money for kids) in mind. @keepachildalive was founded by Alicia Keys 20 years ago to focus on helping children globally that are affected physically, socially, or economically by HIV/AIDS. We are raising money to support their efforts and if you are interested in supporting our journey, I would be truly grateful. More info and donation link below. As for the running: I’m still early in my training process so all tips are welcome. If you’re a friend in NYC and want to run together, hit me! All speeds are cool.
