Thought this would be a fun little documentation and appreciation for @hytopia .
I started ARKYN @arkyngg on July 11th with the goal to create a UI-based game after seeing the success of Cookie Clicker @YeeHaw_Games and publishing my first game “FACE-OFF”. I wanted to create a roguelike type game after Balatro consumed me for a good 2 months.
So I got a quick prototype working after just 2 days of developing on the HYTOPIA SDK. Kept working on it for a few weeks, and then IRL work stuff got in the way and I basically didn’t work on it all during August/September. Have been going ham all October, so in net total ARKYN has had maybe about 4-5 weeks of development time so far.
I still have a lot of work to do on ARKYN to get it to a state I’m happy with. (first goal is FUN). But it amazes me that HYTOPIA and AI coding has enabled a non-programmer like me to actually develop a legitimate game experience in really just a week or so. Yes I’m aware this probably makes actual programmers puke - just don’t look at the code 🤣.
