2/ J: What is beauty to Sam Spratt? How would you personally define it? S: Beauty is what reality offers in return when we give it our full attention. Seeing something true, or even the trace of truth struggling to get through, is a beauty to witness and experience. A tension of motility and momentum in a dance with nurture and care - that even when it bends, it isn’t being bent so much as to become hallucination, that the design under and above is in view. I’ve never seen it more purely distilled than in the delivery room, witnessing @MrsRachelSpratt give birth to our daughter Syla, the animalism, effort, and love required to continue life and in every escalating moment having a child since; but it shows up in more aesthetic ways too. You can see it in someone protecting their meat husk to cross the finish line; you can see it more when the honed husk and the work it holds are connected to their work; even more when that work is in service to others alive; and infinitely more as one husk’s service is to a design beyond this life or the next.
