Years ago, I read this book by a female physician, a pediatrician, who had practiced medicine for decades and who raised a child without the help of daycare. She said when she and her husband had their daughter, they didn’t think she should give up her medical practice, so they built a little room with a nice window at the office where the baby could play and sleep during the day and mom could be in and out seeing patients. She even homeschooled from there when the daughter became older. I’m sure there were other things they had to work around over the years, but I remember thinking having your baby with you everyday at work, in a nice room with a big window sounded like the perfect scenario. A dream, really. I think this life is more attainable than it seems.
