Got a lot more attention on the prototype post than i expected. Figured i'd share a bit more about the original idea; the idea for Bitle came to me while i was out in the middle of nowhere in Vermont surrounded by fireflies- no cell, no wifi. I did have Bitchat, yet, no one close enough to chat with.
A solar powered autonomous bluetooth node seemed ideal; something small that can pick up the packets from bitchat and relay them along the chain - the ideal setup, i imagined, would be a tiny drone with a solar cell and ~48hrs of battery charge, that would relocate where it was needed, and retire to the sun to recharge when needed. There seems to be few, if any, technological hurdles to make such a product - yet it doesn't exist. Kind of weird, to be honest.
The notion of a foundational, ambient node mesh that is just there, ready, able and willing to rearrange, optimize and forward information along seems essential - why don't we have it? We should have it.
That was the initial spark for Bitle - even though right now it is a pretty ugly circuit box that is extremely dumb (it just forwards encrypted packets along), it does the job. We should, as a society, have robust, optimized and high bandwidth networks - that's the job of the centralized organizations with massive capital that can lay cables, dig tunnels, etc. But for the people, the notion of an ambient net, as pervasive and essential as air, is what interests me.

Bitle menangani jabat tangan protokol kebisingan untuk komunikasi yang aman, memproses pesan pengguna terenkripsi, dan meneruskannya melalui jaringan mesh.
Ini dirancang sebagai relai mesh profesional yang meningkatkan arsitektur terdesentralisasi bitchat dengan menyediakan node perutean tambahan tanpa memerlukan interaksi pengguna atau muncul sebagai rekan di antarmuka perpesanan.
Saya membayangkan kegunaannya sebagai simpul dasar untuk daerah terpencil, seperti jalur hiking, tempat berkemah dll (karenanya nama Bitle - "Biddle" atau "kumbang") di mana sinyal mungkin lemah dan komunikasi kritis. Yang terpenting, meskipun sinyal/wifi mungkin berlimpah, bitchat sebenarnya bukan tentang menjadi failsafe untuk komunikasi online - ini tentang memilih untuk berkomunikasi tanpa infrastruktur terpusat; peer to peer - perangkat seperti Bitle tampaknya berperan penting untuk ini. Seharusnya dimungkinkan untuk membuat grid ini dengan cukup murah dan membuat jaringan mesh sekitar yang dapat dikomunikasikan oleh siapa pun saat offline. Sebagian besar ukuran perangkat ada di baterai/surya/casing/papan daya - akan jauh lebih kecil jika dibangun ke dalam bola lampu atau perangkat plug-in apa pun.
