reminder, every "bitcoin l2" is fully custodial except for lightning, statechains, and ark
custodial = someone else holds the bitcoin that backs the thing that you're using on the network // application that can be: 1) coinbase 2) a friend 3) a permissioned federation 4) operators of another blockchain 3 and 4 can be set up in a variety of ways
this is a fantastic point where being self-custodial/non-custodial doesn't always equal being the most secure.

... but this doesn't mean you can't lose all your money due to an attack on the protocol! e.g. LN and Ark are vulnerable to "flood and loot" and similar liveness attacks, and the SE in statechains can collude with a prior keyholder (e.g. themselves) to steal from current holders.
