Satellite imagery this morning showing stratus mixing out across the coastal valleys and smoke from the Gifford Fire drifting northwards through the Central Coast and the Bay Area. For current smoke and air quality information see . #CAwx

Areas of fog including dense fog reducing visibilities to less than 1/4 mile are reported this morning, please use extra caution if out traveling on the roadways. Fog will mix out and surface visibilities will improve by late morning. #CAwx

Marine layer depth 1300 feet at Fort Ord, northwest-west sea breezes will extend into the nearby coastal valleys thru the afternoon. Up above the marine layer temperature inversion (sharp vertical temp gradient) it's 81F (27.1C) and warmer. Latest data is on the left side. #CAwx

Ideal location for outdoor Saturday lunch? At sea level nearest the bays and coast. Sea breezes will develop during the afternoon. Inland afternoon temps are warming up quickly and mountain top temps are also warm to hot within the lower level temperature inversion. #CAwx
