Meet @devtooligan, one of the newest LSRs in the Spearbit network. His path to security is anything but typical, and that perspective shows up in how he works: creative, focused, and deeply collaborative.
Before security, Devtooligan was a CPA at Deloitte and worked in interest rate derivatives at Morgan Stanley. He left Wall Street in 2018, became a digital nomad in Vietnam, and started a new chapter: decentralized systems.
He got into web3 security in 2021, drawn by the idea of programmable, decentralized money. It wasn’t a career pivot, it was a philosophical shift.
Now an LSR at Spearbit, Devtooligan joins the ranks of researchers who originally inspired him. “It’s an honor to work alongside this group,” he says. “Spearbit has backed me since the beginning.”
He’s audited Uniswap, Aave, Chainlink, ZKsync, Frax, Centrifuge, Gearbox, and other DeFi protocols that require both breadth and depth. He’s also part of Huff Core and serves on the Optimism Developer Advisory Board.
Technically, he focuses on exotic and novel DeFi, low-level assembly, and highly complex code. The deeper the challenge, the better.
He calls himself a "collaboration maxi" and "creativity hacker." Whether he’s writing, doing CTFs, or arguing with AI, he’s always learning—and sharing what he learns.
We're glad to have him in the network. Welcome, Devtooligan.
