Delawareans are already feeling the effects of Trumpcare. Dave wrote to my office to share that without an extension of the ACA tax credits, his wife—who suffers from multiple ailments—and he will see their premium jump to $1,200 a month and will lose their coverage. Trumpcare is dangerous. It is deadly. And even when people do everything right, Republicans in Congress continue to fail them.

I was a kid once. And my biggest regret in life is that I never got a childhood without pain. Politicians should never insert themselves into the personal health care decisions of patients, parents, and their providers—and that includes trans Americans.

Let’s be clear: Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress created this health care affordability crisis. Their health care plan was the Big Ugly Bill—massive cuts to Medicaid and Medicare and higher premiums for millions. So what they’re doing now is like an arsonist lighting a house on fire and then showing up with a garden hose—it doesn’t fix anything, and it makes an even bigger mess.
